On Sincerity
One thought basic to the INO is that we and everyone contains a spark of Divine. Now, this holds true whether we are Aware of this or not, or choose to do something about it or merely yawn and change the channel. We are all free in life to make our own decisions.
Now the only reason someone enters a Path is in order to experience things along the Way which have been hinted about or promised and finally reach the Goal. I admit that I am rather guilty of saying little about the Goal. On the other hand, isn’t it extremely presumptuous to tell others what the Goal of life is? I think so, and a few hints should suffice if someone is following along. I also think that anyone who progresses far enough shouldn’t need to be told, in so many words.
If we progress in our mind development, another person doesn’t have to tell us for us to Know. To Know is a thing best discovered by ourselves. Of course the knowing I speak of may or may not be related to facts or historical events. There is something Glowing elsewhere I infer.
“Every Man and Woman is a Star, but the magnitude depends upon yourself.”
Creating some kind of context which is conducive to our expanding Starfire magnitude is important. That is if expanding our Illumination is what we are trying to do. If this is not what one is trying to do, then this quote is best read and forgotten with a laugh. While many people believe they are on a distinct “path,” deep scrutiny often reveals that for all practical purposes most are focusing on distinct and different aspects. One only hopes the focus is constructive.
Whether we call it a practice, sadhana, a path or way of life is not really that important. What is important is that we use some critical Thinking and assess our situation and then decide what to do, how to do it and proceed. It is likely that whatever course we proceed on, there will be future opportunities to reassess our situation again and again and carry on in a new light and perhaps new avenue.
The yogic practices, mantras and meditation are for those who desire to experience and Know. This kind of approach is not the only Path. One of the reasons I have chosen to put aspects of practical practice and exertion into the “limelight” is in response to a history and pattern where I believe too little attention was paid to mind/spirit development and too much attention was given to role playing and “social club” aspects.
On the topic of Sincerity, I can tell you that Shri Mahendranath wanted the initiates of his Nath Order to work together in harmony and seek to unfold their latent Occult/Spiritual faculties in ever expanding Illumination. While I wish it were otherwise, experience more than suggests that without context, focus and right exertion, little will be accomplished. If some assert otherwise, please give evidence of what was accomplished or Attained and how it was achieved. These findings will be investigated carefully, if they can be proven credible.
So, a new approach can often work wonders in providing a new perspective. In the final distillate however, what a person does or doesn’t do should be squarely based on one’s own personal decisions. We all have to live with our decisions or lack of them and any karma thus generated.
Tantrika held the ideal of freedom as a work in progress. To Do or not to Do and endure or enjoy the consequences. It remains a Do What you Will World, but few among the living have abrogated the laws of karma by wishful thinking alone. It were ever thus…
