Taviz

A taviz is a piece of paper impregnated with Shakti as a blessing, then worn at the neck in a locket for protection or good fortune. Shri Gurudev Mahendranath called it the “God Cracker.” The paper may be plain or fancy. The charge is fixed into it and often signed by the person who did the work.

Small pieces of paper with inscription and blessings.
This example came from a matchbox of them sent from India by Mahendranath in the late 1980s.

Within the International Nath Order the taviz is a blessing-paper of that house, not a yantra and not a rudraksha. Visitors to Shambhala Tapovan asked him for one. Some wore it. Some sat with it in the hand and tried to follow the charge back to its source. This page names the object. It is not an offer to post one, and it is not a method. Sri Kapilnath’s note is the living memory of the thing.
