Sampradaya

The Sanskrit word Sampradaya describes a tradition and teachings which are imparted from one Guru to another in an unbroken stream throughout the generations (known as parampara). One becomes a member of a Sampradaya by means of initiation by receiving the specific diksha traditional to that Sampradaya.
