Skull Chatter (Vol. 2 No. 4)
The Open Door creaks open once more, as the chilly Winter of 1990 draws quickly to a close. Now poised on the coming of Spring, we can tuck away our mittens and ear flaps, recount the brief appearance of snowflakes, and also relate the highlights of the recent past. Shiva Ratri and Holi are now behind us and only an eerie memory lingers to remind us. Popular cosmic holidays, these two dates are celebrated by not only Hindus, but by occultists, lefties, and assorted denizens of the cremation ground scene. We must hand it to the Rishis for their colorful calendar which delineates the passage of time and gives our revolving seasons meaning on both climatic and spiritual levels. While only our clever astrologers can calculate with precision the shifting moods and possibilities of the Macrocosmic Lord, it is nonetheless a worthwhile reminder that both the Full and New Moons contain their own quantum of Magick and meaning.
Winter was a busy time for the people of Kailash Zonule as much work and discussion was applied to our production of The Scrolls of Mahendranath. This spiral bound edition containing many of Shri Gurudev Mahendranath’s most important manuscripts will be completed in the Spring and announced in our next newsletter. The “Scrolls” will provide a birdseye view of many of the important concepts and guidelines of our Nath Order under one cover. This production will be a great resource for people new to our ways and perhaps even stimulating to the remaining old timers.
Many amusing get-togethers for discussion and practice occurred during the winter months in Kailash Zonule. Most notable was the delightful five week visit of Shri Lalita Mataji of Weirdglow Zonule (Vancouver, Canada) to our zone. Numerous new candidates for initiation have also recently come forward, and will be given their stripes as soon as clarity on the basics are indicated.
Much correspondence and love letters from many individuals, but some news of various Zonules going into hibernation for the Winter months, and a regrettable silence from our friends in the U.K. and Europe. As Spring is coming, I suspect the solar fires will soon ignite some words and we look forward to hearing from all of you. Due to some misunderstandings about the aims and modus operandi of the International Order of Naths, we are offering an informational article as the main course for this edition of our Open Door. On April 29th we are having an open house to celebrate the birthday of our own Gurudev Mahendranath. All are welcome, but we ask that out-of-towners please give some advance notice if you intend to attend. A merry Spring Equinox and season to you all!
