Adesh (also Adesha) is the Nath recognition that Atman, Paramatman, and Jiva are one. In relative thought those three are distinguished. The truth is that they are not separate, and the realization of that unity is called Adesh. When Yogis or Nath-Yogis meet, they greet each other with the salutation “Adesh—Adesh!”
Within the International Nath Order the same greeting is still used among Naths, Devis, and friends—in letters, at Melas, and at the opening of public notes. It is not a password and it is not proof of initiation. It is the first truth toward the First Lord, Adinath, and the ground on which yoga with the Cosmic Spirit is raised.
