The Sanskrit word Mahasamadhi names the passing of a saint or yogi. The word suggests that at death the yogi returns to the Cosmic Spirit and the processes of karma and rebirth end.
Within the International Nath Order this is how the passing of such a one is spoken. Shri Gurudev Mahendranath entered mahasamadhi on 30 August 1991 at Shambhala Tapovan. It is not a grade.
