The term Tantra is used in two ways: a written treatise on occult lore or magick, and an ancient pagan science of spiritual attainment. Its practices are meant to catalyze the connection between the individual microcosm and the divine macrocosm.
Within the International Nath Order Tantra is a way of life, not a bedroom specialty and not a religion. Sexual energy may be used as a sacrament when concentration is already built in meditation. It is not the whole of the work. The outlook is experimental, pragmatic, and amoral in the sense that it will use any tool that breaks the illusion of maya. That has always frightened puritan creeds. Kaula is the clan way of life that carries this science. Yoga is union. Tantra is the science that works toward that union. The three super faculties—Insight, Intuition, and Imagination—are how the mind is trained for it.
