In India, God has the meaning of the Cosmic Spirit (in Sanskrit, Purusha), from which the human spirit originally came and to which it must eventually return. Nath Tantriks do not have a paternalistic monotheistic dogma. They use the concept of the Cosmic Spirit. Within that concept are many qualities and degrees of manifestation, linked to the names of gods and goddesses.
Within the International Nath Order this is the term for that to which yoga and sadhana are aimed. Shiva and Shakti are forms by which the same current is made tangible; they are not a creed. Shri Gurudev Mahendranath wrote an invocation to the Cosmic Spirit as The Puja of the Three Super Faculties. Individuals may choose their own word for the connection. The INO does not impose one. Awakening is the experiential side of this return. Supreme Reality is a neighboring name, not a second god.
