Letter to Gurunath Kapilnath of 8 February 1989

Dearest Gurunath Kapilnath,
Lovely to get the Open Door and find it’s still open. No. 4 & the 4th dimension. This may be a shortie as my last letter was sent about 28/1/89 and you will not have received it yet. So I reply in haste to Open Door Number Four and your letter of 31/1/89. I wrote to Denny on 31/1 and I had some material on Monday about Earth Spirit and Tantra document, but all the old stuff and nothing new or original thinking.
I liked too the new yellow book list and thank you for reprinting The Song of the Dreamtime Snake. I don’t think many recent Naths have read this. The poem was intended to express the I.O.N. on an etherial level.
When Don K. wrote to me to say he wanted to print my MSS in one volume, but needed a new chapter which stressed and used the word Tantra more, I complied, but suspected he was not sincere or had some other motive. So I wrote new chapter (The Magick Path of Tantra) in a way that would make it more instructive to Nathas and even include pieces which could be used separately, e.g. The Scroll called Puja of the Three Super Faculties and the following section The Scroll of Esoteric Nath Wisdom could be used for MAGIKOS, if it come to birth.
You have MAGIKOS for your own baby if you want it, and develop it yourself and in your own way. Only I want it to be for real and not as AMOOKOS became—something only on paper. A Magick Order must have a shadow figure or group behind the leader as the Golden Dawn had its Secret Chiefs and the Blavatsky person had her Secret Masters of Tibet. The only difference is that I am real and not invented and the guidelines are stable and mean something and not teachings which remain forever esoteric.
Are you in touch with Lucien M? I think he was disappointed at the debasement of AMOOKOS. I think he could help you to draw up a Sword Ritual. I suggested to Mike that he make Lucien Deputy-Grand-Master, but he feared to be eclipsed and never did. Lucien has just played the lead in a film of T. S. Elliot. He is a lovely person.
I can’t last forever and I still hope for a small group to expand and direct operations when I have ↑. As you say, let AMOOKOS die a natural death and only be something people write or talk about. I am resigned to this but there is still need for a real, practical and effective working Order.
Mike’s role as leader of the Naths has been too arrogant & dictatorial. It would be better to have just local Gurunaths, and MAGIKOS, even if [it] has to contain overseas leaders like Dan J. & Lucien, formed as an upper and advanced group to introduce new thinking and to change old ones if they become impractical. The trouble with most in U.K., they want to preserve old and meaningless trips which have no practical value, either in our way of life or in Cosmic Magick.
Think I do that the Americans (& the Swedes) are more progressive and open minded to “New Think.” Just the same, Denny is alright about and within his own group, but in MAGIKOS he will have to display complete fraternity and conform within MAGIKOS to majority decisions of MAGIKOS.
If you get out a basic manifesto of and for MAGIKOS, I will sign it and return to you. I must now await the answer and your think about my last letter.
