Skull Chatter (Vol. 1 No. 3)
As the days of summer now linger only in our memories, we at The Open Door are happy to take an Autumnal look backward and forward and offer you an unusual glimpse and recollection of some of our activities. As always, Guru Purnima continues to be the social highlight of our Nath calendar. The Guru Purnima celebration of July this year was well attended and featured a Guru Puja and chanting, plus much feasting and blabby socializing.
In order to mark this auspicious occasion the Seattle Nath Chorus attempted to make a vocal recording of some of our Gurudev Mahendranath’s poetry. While the themes and ideas of the poetry are dear to our hearts and contain many gems worthy of repeated reflection, our temple acoustics proved to be less than flattering and the wide range of individual interpretive expression caused the project to receive a “not to be released” status. Nevertheless, this was a valid exercise and even promoted discussion of some relevant concepts.
Another interesting get together of Naths will take place in New York City this November. Kapilnath and Aurora Devi of Seattle will be meeting Lokanath of London, England and Nimesanath of Ohio, U.S.A. for the first time. The meet will be hosted by Shyamanath and Suparni Devi of New York state.
Hermeticusnath and Sophia Devi have recently returned from Thailand and reported that they found evidence of Shiva worship even in the predominantly Buddhist Kingdom of Siam. Hermeticusnath is also going to raise his Earth Spirit Temple again in late January at Mandala Gallery.
In other new stories, we have been informed that Nimesanath and Aspara Devi of Crystal Zonule are holding regular Puja ceremonies with their Zonule on both the New and Full Moon. Nimesanath and Aspara Devi also report that four new Naths and Devis were recently initiated by them into the International Order of Naths. A Welcome to you all.
Vajranath of Soluna-Shambhala Sweden has been producing some interesting writings relating to his Magickal Work and also a fine newsletter in Swedish which flies by the name Svatantrya.
A new Magickal working has just been begun by members of the local In-Group. It features the arcane Rite of the Dreamtime Warriors and has shown much promise in its weekly application by the local elite. Some public outreach activities are in the planning stages by local Naths and Devis in order to share with a wider public the higher thought patterns and progressive attitudes of the Naths.
I recently received the completed MS of Shri Gurudev Mahendranath’s The Magick Path of Tantra sent to me by Indradhanush of Scotland. This MS will be in booklet form and available by Winter.
Overall, I think we can say that some progress is indicated by our commitment to working together and at the same time continuing our own individual development. We encourage all who wish to continue receiving The Open Door to respond once in a while and let us know you still want to be on our mailing list. We do look forward to hearing from you by phone, postcard, or even a flood of dollars to our mailing address.
Love and Best Wishes,
Newsletter of the International Nath Order
